Asheville based bluegrass fusion group Brushfire Stankgrass is riding a wave of new written and recorded material into their Summer and Fall 2021 touring schedule, and is relishing each and every opportunity to perform live again in front of fans. The band hasn't stopped writing and recording over the past year, tracking two new albums at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville in 2020.
BFSG is a stand-by group in the Asheville bluegrass and jamband scene, collaborating with a large cast of talent and musicians to make their studio work come alive. This could be loosely called the "Steely Dan approach" in their studio work. Despite their meticulous attention to detail that has led to the band stockpiling a totoal of 3 unreleased albums worth of material (their next release is due fall 2021), the band puts on a fun, lively, free flowing and seamless live show as a 4-piece, full of all the spontaneity and energy that continually draws fans to the live bluegrass/jam scene.
The band is fronted by brothers Will & Ben Saylor on banjo and guitar, with Micah Thomas on drums & Danny Iannucci on bass. All in their late 30's and early 40's, the band is continuing to perform and evolve and break new ground in their genre. While the band is currently unsigned by any label or agency, the band is still prolific in producing new material and showing staying power, here in their 19th year performing as Brushfire Stankgrass and ninth year together with their current lineup.
