Launched in August of 2020, Tuesday Casual Collaborations at 185 King Street has become a cornerstone of the vibrant Brevard music community. Every week Travis Book assembles a unique group of musicians for a one-time-only show, drawing on his vast network of friends and growing repertoire of musical styles. From Bluegrass to Blues, Songwriter to Americana, Country to Funk, Travis and his ever-evolving cast of local and national (even international) musicians consistently hit the sweet spot between preparation and spontaneity. “Eventually, I hope to play with everyone!” he occasionally boasts, and he’s well on his way. Travis has hosted a wide range of musicians, including: Anders Beck, Nicki Bluhm, Josh Daniel, Beppe Gambetta, Mike Guggino, Vince Herman, Sierra Hull, Cris Jacobs, Jim Lauderdale, Lindsay Lou, Steve McMurry, Mimi Naja, Tim O’Brien, Woody Platt, Jon Stickley, Kyle Tuttle, and Cristina Vane. He also regularly employs the skills of world-class local musicians like Jeff Sipe, Mike Ashworth, Tommy Maher, Bennett Sullivan, and Derick Gardner. Every week is unique, the musical styles wide-ranging, but the one thing that remains constant is the intention, positivity, and charisma that Travis brings to each and every show. This week Travis is on tour so he is handing the hosting duties over to John Cowan and Luke Bulla. When John Cowan and Luke Bulla perform together, their shows reflect 25 years of shared history, musical trust, and genuine friendship. Blending New Grass Revival (and more) favorites with old and new originals, they pair masterful picking, rich harmony, and stories that are heartfelt, funny, and hard-earned. Cowan calls Bulla “one of the most beautiful gifts” of his long musical life, while Bulla, inspired by Cowan since his youth, considers sharing the stage a “dream come true” and a source of “immense gratitude and honor”. Together, they deliver music rooted in gratitude, joy, and deep mutual respect.
Empire Strikes Brass is a dynamic BrassFunkRock band hailing from Asheville, North Carolina. Their music resonates with a powerful message delivered through a captivating and larger-than-life sound. Fueled by a thumping rhythm section that sets the groove, the band's rich horn arrangements, performed by a robust horn section, add an extra layer of depth to both their original compositions and compelling covers, showcasing the evolution of ESB. Formed in 2012, Empire Strikes Brass started as a group of friends who loved playing New Orleans-inspired second-line and funk tunes infused with elements of rock and jam. Over time, they have transformed into a collective of incredibly talented musicians, singers, songwriters, and producers. The result is a fresh and authentic sound that seamlessly combines their diverse musical influences while staying true to their roots. The band boasts a remarkable lineup of artists, each bringing their own unique contribution to the table. From the rich vocals, and harmonious saxophone of Grammy Award-winning artist Debrissa McKinney (known for her work with Secret Agent 23 Skidoo) to the masterful keyboard and production skills of Lenny Pettinelli, the thunderous beats of drummer Nik Hope, the solid bass lines of JP Furnas, the melodic guitar riffs of Chris Porter, the soulful trumpet sounds of Alex Bradley, and the sky high notes of Tim Morgan on trumpet, the smooth trombone of Jacob Bruner, the vibrant saxophone of Pauly Juhl, and the versatile keyboard and percussion talents of Sean Donnelly, every member of ESB plays a crucial role in the band's success. Since their inception, Empire Strikes Brass has become a staple at various festivals across the USA, leaving a lasting impression with their infectious energy and electrifying performances. Their horn section has also had the honor of sharing the stage with esteemed acts like Shpongle Live Band, Umphrey's McGee, Papadosio, and many more iconic names in the funk and jam scene. Read more...
Old time and bluegrass musician Melissa Chilinski is an artist people remember. With her nimble banjo and rich, jazz and country inspired vocals, she’s been called a pairing of Gillian Welch, Medeleine Pyroux, and Norah Jones – an old-time-meets-modern vibe that keeps listeners hanging on to every vocal and instrumental note. “Chilinski paves her own way,” reads a review of her self-titled album, “turning the timeless into something beautiful and brand new.” A fixture on the Bluegrass scene since her arrival in Salt Lake City, Melissa can be found on the area’s premier stages, filling the State Room, taking the bandstand at annual events like the Ogden Music Festival, holding court in the Gibson Lounge in the Grand America Hotel, and regularly sitting in with top bands including Pixie and the Party Grass Boys, Hot House West, Josie-O and The Big Six, the Elderblossoms, Pompe n’ Honey, and more. Over the course of multiple albums, she’s carved out a distinct sound: warm and resonant vocals layered over banjos and fiddles that move fluidly between heritage techniques and modern phrasing. Songs reflect her range and story-telling styles, from the love lament of “Could Have Had It All,” to the haunting true legend of “The Blind Miner,” to the small-town campground host of “Hanksville,” a guy who found his small town had gotten too darned popular. Her River Green Sessions album forges a literal bond between her two passions (music and the outdoors), recorded with ambient sounds from a day trip to the mountains, and layered with songs such as “Like a Desert Flower” (written and recorded with David Baker) and the two “River Green” title tracks that feel they’d be at home on either playlist or soundtrack. Her discography reflects both her musicianship and stature, with her self-titled 2025 release and those with band Pompe n’ Honey putting her voice front and center, and the lilt of her trademark harmonies gracing the tracks of numerous other artists. read more... Venue and ticketing information:We are family friendly, but shows are 21+ unless accompanied by a guardian. For this show you have the option of purchasing a table or a general admission ticket. When purchasing a table you are purchasing the number of tickets that the tables seats. For example if you purchase a 4-top table you are purchasing 4 tickets General admission tickets gain you access to the rear of the venue, behind the seated sections as well as the backyard. There are tables outside and limited seating in the indoor general admission area. For more heavily attended shows the indoor general admission area is standing room only. There is a garage door behind the stage that remains open in good weather so that you can enjoy the show from inside or outside. Our general rule is if the temperature will remain above 50 degrees for the duration of the show the door will remain open. For more information visit our FAQ page or reach out to us directly.

With a vote of confidence from a legend, a no. 2 pencil and scratchpad, and his acoustic guitar, he went into his barn to write. He emerged with his finest album to date. Produced by Jerry Douglas, One of These Days is a stunning collection of storytelling and song, rooted in bluegrass, folk, and blues, but unencumbered by rules and expectations. The Infamous Stringdusters serve as the album’s rollicking house band, joined by friends including Billy Strings, Sam Bush, Lee Ann Womack, the McCrary Sisters, Lindsay Lou, and more. The result is unfettered, joyful virtuosity, swirling around Jacobs’ powerful voice, gut-check meditations, and close-up character sketches. “I’ve always found so much comfort in roots music––in string band music,” Jacobs says. “There’s just something about the sound of all those instruments together that resonates with me to my core and brings me grounding and peace.” read more...

We are taking a break from our usual Tuesday programming to raise money for the Junior Appalachian Musicians program. The Transylvania County Junior Appalachian Musician (JAM) Program offers free classes and weekly opportunities for students to play music together in an informal setting. Classes are offered for guitar, clawhammer banjo, fiddle, band, and ukelele. The teachers in the JAM program are working musicians with a passion to keep traditional music alive in the Appalachian Region. As students advance in the program they work to place them in ensembles. This evening's event will feature music by Woody Platt, Mike Guggino, & Mike Ashworth along with others who will sit in. There will also be a silent auction component.

This week Travis is on tour so he is handing the hosting duties over to Natalya Zoe Weinstein and John Cloyd Miller. They will be joined by Graham Sharp (Steep Canyon Rangers) and San Sankarin (Unspoken Tradition). Zoe & Cloyd—the creative partnership of fiddler/vocalist Natalya Zoe Weinstein and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist John Cloyd Miller—prove that opposites truly do attract. Hailing from two distinct musical worlds, they merge their unique backgrounds into a powerful collaboration that has garnered both critical acclaim and widespread appeal. Natalya, a classically trained musician from Massachusetts with deep roots in klezmer and jazz, joins forces with John, a 12th-generation North Carolinian and grandson of pioneering bluegrass fiddler Jim Shumate. Together, they create music that honors their respective traditions while forging a distinctive sound of their own. This award-winning duo’s work has been praised by Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine as “a musical collaboration that demands to be heard." Venue and ticketing information:We are family friendly, but shows are 21+ unless accompanied by a guardian.

Led by the electrifying riffs of Eric Congdon and the hauntingly beautiful melodies of Hope Griffin, their sound weaves a tapestry of sonic landscapes. Jackson Dulaney brings his southern sliding flair with the pedal and lap steel. The rhythm section, anchored by Sam Barker's rock solid bass lines and Tyler Matthews' dynamic drumming, propels the band forward with an undeniable groove. Together, they craft a distinct sound that captures the spirit of the open road and the soul of American roots music. The Congdon Griffin Band performs unique originals written by Eric & Hope, and reimagines classic covers for music lovers of all genres.
Parker Barrow, the blues-infused Southern rock band led by husband and wife duo Megan Kane (vocals) and Dylan Turner (drums), supported by the formidable Alex Bender (guitar) is a powerhouse group, taking the stage by storm as anything from a 5-piece to a 10-piece band – boasting a distinctive musical style. Forged from an immediate connection, the band finds inspiration in the infamous duo of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. Kane and Turner aim to infuse their music with the iconic energy of a dynamic duo, portraying a narrative where, instead of evading the law, they are a dynamic pair in pursuit of their rock ‘n’ roll dreams. Unleashing their full creative force, the band poured everything into their inaugural 10-track album, Jukebox Gypsies, released on August 11, 2023. This collection of songs chronicles the couple’s four-year journey, from a serendipitous meeting to navigating life on the road in an RV, capturing both the highs and lows. Each song serves as a reflection of their emotions and experiences, discovering a harmonious balance amid the chaos. “One of the best parts of releasing this album was getting to hear that people are connecting with our music and hearing people talk about our music the way we talk about some of our favorite bands,” Kane and Turner gushed. “It’s been an awesome ride with this record and we’re still enjoying the wave till we reach the shore and can paddle back out for round two!” Drawing significant inspiration from The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Whiskey Myers, Parker Barrow seamlessly incorporates blues into each arrangement. The band’s true brilliance emerges in their live performances, marked by lively flights and a showcase of their grounded charisma. Turner and Kane, bound by a shared vision, genuine passion, and a love for life on the road, hold their relationship in high esteem through music and faith. As kindred spirits, they eagerly anticipate continuing to create and perform together in this next chapter of life. Whether in intimate acoustic sets or impactful full-band shows, it’s clear that the couple is precisely where they should be. Jukebox Gypsies, a record with high praise, catapulted Parker Barrow throughout the year 2023. Rock & Blues Muse journalist Mike O’Cull applauded the album saying, “Parker Barrow absolutely swings for the fences on their 10-track debut album Jukebox Gypsies… this much-anticipated record over-delivers on all levels and should do much to jump Parker Ba Jukebox Gypsies marks a significant milestone in Parker Barrow’s musical journey and there’s nothing but greatness in store for their future. With the release of their brand new singles’ ‘Make It‘ (April ’25) and ‘Novocaine‘ (July ’25) recieve rave reviews the band has states their claim in the southern rock scene and has no plans of slowing down.
Hailing from Annapolis, Maryland, the powerhouse trio Pressing Strings, led by guitarist and vocalist Jordan Sokel, has earned a loyal following with their genre bending blend of blues, rock, and folk, wrapped in soul-stirring storytelling and toe tapping grooves. Their music resonates with the emotional grit of blues, the laidback swagger of folk, and the urgency of modern rock. Whether delivering heartfelt ballads or energetic anthems, Pressing Strings weaves lyrical introspection and high-caliber musicianship that feels both fresh and familiar. Sokel’s smokey voice and intricate guitar work is complimented masterfully by a star rhythm section. Held down tightly by drummer Justin Kruger, an energetic and charismatic performer whose style mirrors his outside the box personality and unique approach to the instrument, and bassist Nick Welker, a solid and stoic figure who picks melodic lines and chordal voicings that makes the trio sound full and lush. All three members sing, adding harmonies reminiscent of southern California in the 70’s. Together they push the limits of what a trio can do, and provide an immersive, feel-good vibe that hits the audience’s heart as hard as it does the ears. Recently, the band has been touring the US coast-to-coast, headlining clubs and delighting audiences at festivals such as Palisade Roots and Bluegrass Festival, FloydFest, Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival, Firefly, Sweetwater 420Fest, and Cavefest, while sharing the stage with major artists like Gov’t Mule, Toad The Wet Sprocket, JJ Grey, and Neil Francis. For more information, visit https://pressingstrings.com Venue and ticketing information:We are family friendly, but shows are 21+ unless accompanied by a parent. This is a general admission show. There are tables within the venue that are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is a garage door behind the stage that remains open in good weather so that you can enjoy the show from inside or outside. For more information visit our FAQ page or reach out to us directly.

The Widlowski Quintet is a jazz group that plays music ranging from the 50s to what's coming out today,. Styles include swing, hard bop, Latin jazz, blues, and funk. The group was put together by Brian Widlowski, a drummer from Charleston SC who has been performing for the past 30 years. Early influences were Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, and Neil Peart. In the late 90s he enrolled at The College of Charleston, where he studied under 2 time Grammy winner Quentin Baxter. While studying with Baxter, they focused on the fundamentals of drumming, the great drummers of jazz, and how to listen to and compliment the musicians you're playing with. Widlowski graduated with a degree in Jazz Performance in 2002. That year, Brian opened for Ray Charles at the North Charleston Coliseum with The Erin Kelly Quartet. Currently living in Brevard, Brian enjoys the access to 3 cities within an hours drive: Greenville, Hendersonville, and Asheville. They each have their own scene, and they all have excellent jazz musicians. The members of the Widlowski Quintet come from Columbia, Greenville, Asheville, and Brevard. Monty Craig is a guitarist who has dedicated his life to music and is an active performer, teacher, composer, and producer. Monty is an engineering and production professional with 20 years of experience running live sound and producing music. He is a member of Produce Like a Pro Academy, led by Grammy-winning producer and engineer Warren Huart (The Fray, Aerosmith, Ace Frehley of KISS). As an instructor, Monty’s method to learning music is different because it teaches you to master the fundamentals of music FIRST, so that you can truly build on that foundation for life. He ensures all students learn rhythm, reading music, and ear training. Originally from New Orleans, bassist Nathan Lambertson relocated to the Greenville area in September, 2024. He studied music at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, the University of New Orleans, and Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, Netherlands. During his New Orleans career, he played a wide variety of music nightly and toured across the US and Europe. Some of the artists he's recorded and toured with include Brian Blade, Chris Thomas King, Rickie Lee Jones, Stanton Moore, Mike Dillon, Joel Frahm, The Hot Club of New Orleans, Aurora Nealand and The New Orleans Jazz Vipers. Venue and ticketing information:We are family friendly, but shows are 21+ unless accompanied by a parent. This is a general admission show. There are tables within the venue that are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is a garage door behind the stage that remains open in good weather so that you can enjoy the show from inside or outside. For more information visit our FAQ page or reach out to us directly.

Throughout the EP’s five tracks weave illustrious drum beats and vintage synths, melding together Paul Simon’s ‘70s aesthetic and the pop sensibility of Gnarls Barkley for an irresistibly catchy soundtrack to rapid change. “The idea for this collection of songs was born out of a turbulent time in my life,” Michael says. “I had gotten out of a six-year relationship, my artist name was stolen by someone I knew, my uncle passed away in a tragic accident, and I was gigging full-time while simultaneously working a day job to afford to finish up my college degree. I lost my balance, felt the weight of the world and I couldn’t find the comforts that come with a sense of home. I was at a crossroads and, I don’t want to say I was having a mid-life crisis, but I felt the need to get a lot of things off my chest.” A native of Long Island, NY, Michael and his orchestral indie-rock band, Gabriel the Marine, garnered regional attention and later performed nationwide with bands like Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, Mew, Jacks Mannequin, and The Dear Hunter. On LOCAL NOMAD, he returns as a blue-eyed soul dipped crooner, whose narrative lyrics combine with inviting elements of the future. The EP kicks off with “Love Is Gone,” an irresistibly fun listen about the inevitable celebration when the clouds clear after a breakup. “I wrote this song when I had gotten broken up with over the phone after being in a relationship for more than six years,” Michael says. Read More... Lucille Klement will be opening the show. Lucille Klement is an indie-pop/rock band from Johnson City, TN.The band formed back in 2023 off of a chance meeting between frontwoman Maggie Woodall and producer/lead guitarist Matthew Sykes led to a still evolving musical collaboration.
Sometimes the only thing standing between you and a good time are your own reservations. These are the times when the jaded music critic in you should just let your hair down, get up out of your seat and shake your groove thing. These are the times for The Dancing Fleas to liberate your inner geek and let you remember what it was like to not be so dang self conscious about what people might think. Music fans often use the term "guilty pleasure" to refer to music that they keep to themselves even though it makes them smile. The Dancing Fleas are here to relieve you of this guilt. Go ahead, lay that burden down, brothers and sisters. Jump up out of that pew and come down front where we all can shout and sing! But here's the other thing: The Fleas are actually very good. Like, tasty licks. Original songs that are instantly memorable. And an unlimited supply of that joyous, nerdy charisma. If you don't believe me, just drop in on their set and you will understand. No reservations necessary. - Joe Kendrick, WNCW Venue and ticketing information:We are family friendly, but shows are 21 and up unless accompanied by a parent. This is a general admission show. There are tables within the venue that are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is a garage door behind the stage that remains open in good weather so that you can enjoy the show from inside or outside. For more information visit our FAQ page or reach out to us directly.

Lewendahl delivers smooth RnB vocals with funky instrumentation combining a joyous pairing of juicy licks with subtle nods to the soulful stylings of Tom Misch, HER, Leon Bridges and Cory Wong. This RnB, Neo-Soul and Rock inspiration came from founders Laura and Tim Levene's shared love of classic Motown and Soul music. The two gigged extensively as a guitar and piano duo in the Hendersonville and Asheville region, before adding bassist and Brevard native Derek Sandlin. Sandlin's gospel and soul roots immediately brought a unique depth and passion to Lewendahl's stylings. The band also brought on the wildly talented percussionist Jason DeCristofaro. Lewendahl debuted the group's first album “Colours” in 2024, and has been releasing singles in 2026. Listen to Lewendahl’s latest single, “Forever Isn’t Long Enough”, streaming on all platforms.
