Wilmot is an indie pop/rock band hailing from Charleston, South Carolina. The band was formed when Matt Vajdic and Connor Sage met at a local indie rock venue in Charleston, with Jake Wastler joining shortly after when he and Matt were working together at an engineering firm. The name “Wilmot” comes from a park near Matt’s childhood home, where he spent much of his time growing up.
The band consists of Matt, who sings and plays guitar; Connor,, who plays bass and is also conveniently Matt’s roommate; and Jake, who plays drums. Wilmot draws influence from the modern indie pop scene, including artists like Dayglow, Clairo, and Glass Animals, with a unique sound characterized by catchy melodies, danceable rhythms, and synth-driven soundscapes – written from Matt’s bedroom studio.
Wilmot’s music revolves around themes of nostalgia, and their indie-pop sound has already caught attention through the release of three singles. They are gearing up for the release of their debut EP in late spring. The band has performed along the Southeast through the Midwest, with several sold-out shows in their hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
With their debut EP on the horizon and a vision to grow Charleston’s indie pop scene, Wilmot is carving out something special. Stay tuned.
