Join us for night one of a three part songwriter series featuring teachers of Wester North Carolina.  The shows will be hosted by Carrie Morrison.  Night two is scheduled for 5/7 and night three 6/4.  
 

Carrie Morrison, a singer/songwriter based in Brevard, is known for her heartfelt lyrics and diverse melodic compositions that blend folk, rock, and Celtic genres. Known for her warm, expressive voice and intricate piano arrangements, Carrie has become a beloved figure in the WNC music scene. Her songs often explore themes of love, resilience, and the beauty of nature. With several albums and EPs to her name, Carrie recently released her second full-length album, Balladeer, produced by Chris Rosser, and EP The Crosswalk, recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London. In addition to performing as a singer/songwriter/pianist, she collaborates with many other artists and is a keyboardist and vocalist in The Andrew Thelston Band, a rock/funk regional favorite. Carrie has been voted as one of the top three Pianist/Keyboardists in Mountain Xpress’s “Best of WNC” contest three years running. She teaches English at Brevard High School, and prior to that, taught English and special education at East Henderson High. This is her 21st year of teaching.

Josh Dunkin is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and musician whose creative journey has taken him from California to Chicago and now the mountains of WNC. A co-founder of Chicago’s Public House Theatre and co-founder of LaughingStock: The Chicago Comedy Music Festival, Josh has spent decades blending music, theatre, and storytelling into unforgettable performances. Under his musical moniker J. Dunks, he released the album Man Alive in 2022 which crafts a quirky, heartfelt mix of pop and roll. Josh’s songs are shaped by influences ranging from church, theatre, and his studies with masters like David Childers and Bobby McFerrin. He recently made waves with his one-man show Knockin’ on Sandburg’s Door. A show that weaves together the music, poems, and story of the day Bob Dylan showed up on Carl Sandburg’s doorstep. Currently the Theatre Arts teacher at FernLeaf Community Charter School, Josh continues to inspire audiences and students alike with his humor, heart, and passion for creativity. Josh also taught music at Hendersonville Elementary for seven years.
 
Tony Campbell –
Drawing on influences from growing up listening to the music of the 60’s and 70’s, Tony Campbell plays an array of tunes mixing elements of blues, reggae, soul, and rockabilly. Career-technical teacher by day at Flat Rock Middle School, semi-pro songwriter by night, T-Cam works some of his quirky metaphorical observations with a variety of rhythmic ramblings to make some fun tunes. He can be found playing guitar and raising a ruckus with Ten Toe Turbo and Felonious Monks in the greater Hendo area.Tony also taught at McDowell Junior High and has been teaching for 15 years.
 

Venue and ticketing information:

We are family friendly, but shows are 21+ unless accompanied by a parent.

This is a general admission show.  There are tables within the venue that are available on a first come, first serve basis. 
 
There is a garage door behind the stage that remains open in good weather so that you can enjoy the show from inside or outside.
