Launched in August of 2020, Tuesday Casual Collaborations at 185 King Street has become a cornerstone of the vibrant Brevard music community. Every week Travis Book assembles a unique group of musicians for a one-time-only show, drawing on his vast network of friends and growing repertoire of musical styles. From Bluegrass to Blues, Songwriter to Americana, Country to Funk, Travis and his ever-evolving cast of local and national (even international) musicians consistently hit the sweet spot between preparation and spontaneity. “Eventually, I hope to play with everyone!” he occasionally boasts, and he’s well on his way. Travis has hosted a wide range of musicians, including: Anders Beck, Nicki Bluhm, Josh Daniel, Beppe Gambetta, Mike Guggino, Vince Herman, Sierra Hull, Cris Jacobs, Jim Lauderdale, Lindsay Lou, Steve McMurry, Mimi Naja, Tim O’Brien, Woody Platt, Jon Stickley, Kyle Tuttle, and Cristina Vane. He also regularly employs the skills of world-class local musicians like Jeff Sipe, Mike Ashworth, Tommy Maher, Bennett Sullivan, and Derick Gardner. Every week is unique, the musical styles wide-ranging, but the one thing that remains constant is the intention, positivity, and charisma that Travis brings to each and every show.
Madeline Dierauf is a folk musician from Brevard, North Carolina. A sought-after Bluegrass, Old-time, and Irish fiddler, she is a founding member of Appalachian group The Wilder Flower (with Molly Johnson) and Baltimore-based Irish traditional trio The East Coasters. Growing up in Brevard, Madeline Dierauf listened to and learned a diverse range of folk music and was immersed in the cultural traditions of Appalachia and beyond, through mentorship from Beanie O’Dell, Ellen Lee at the Mountain School of Strings, and Nicky Sanders. After picking up the fiddle in third grade, she was winning talent shows by age ten, and played her first gigs around age 14 with (generous) local musicians like Josh Carter, Elizabeth Bahnson, and Owen Grooms. In 2020, she released her debut EP, Walk On By, with producer Mike Ashworth, and in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2024, she wrote for and fiddled on albums for Pretty Little Goat and Dave Desmelik. Most recently, she released albums of original and traditional music with The Wilder Flower and The East Coasters.
