185 King Street opened their doors in 2011 with the mission of providing a space to support local musicians. At the time all the surrounding commercial real estate was empty, a skeleton left from the closure of Brevard Lumber in 2008. The concept of opening a music venue on King Street was met with a decent amount of skepticism and opposition, but founder Jackson Wine and supporters from the community worked tirelessly to figure out a way to make it work. Over a decade later, 185 is thriving and serves as a pillar in the regional music scene.
Current owners, Madeline Magin and Cody Noble took the helm in November 2019 with the vision of adding a brewery to the space. The future was very uncertain when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out mere months later. Fortunately for them, the number of supporters in the community had grown over the years and when it was time to re-open they were ready to ensure 185 would survive. The brewery was able to open by the fall of 2020, the kitchen was built out, and the backyard was transformed into a biergarten. Come join us for music, food and brews in Brevard’s backyard.
